Reflection of Bridge

Adobe Bridge has allowed me to give a star rating to photos. This allows me to pick and choose the best photos which are both technically good and fit for purpose. This will help me when I have to choose the best 10 photos that I have to take for my coursework.  It will give me the opportunity to label and give a star rating to the photos and remove and reject the ones that are not suitable or fit for the purpose of the objective.

Understanding of Cameras

Aperture- This is the amount of light that a camera lets through its lens. It is the size of the opening and can be adjusted. The larger the aperture, the more light is let in, so it is good for dark photos at night. It is measured in F/stops at measurements like this 1.4, 2, 2.8, 4, 5.6, 8, 11 and 16.

Shutter Speed- The measurement to determine how long the shutter is open for when the picture is taken. The faster the speed, the shorter the exposure time. The shutter speed and aperture
time control how much light reaches the sensor.

ISO- The sensitivity of the image sensor. Setting the ISO level will tell the camera how much light is needed for a good image. The higher the ISO the less light required. Low ISOs are often needed in bright situations.

Lens- The part of the camera where light travels through to reach the sensor. The lens can allow you to decide how much of an image you can capture. Wide angle lenses are particularly good for scenic and wide landscapes. Portrait lenses are good for close ups of people as they minimise distortion.

Contingency plan

Equipment List

At Ventana House I have to be careful of cars when crossing the road. I also have to watch out for  other people on the pavement to avoid getting walked into. I also have to be careful when walking on the bridge so as not to fall off or fall down the stairs.
At the house skatepark, I have to be careful of cars as I will be in a car park. I also have to be careful of glass and rubble on the floor as it is quite a derelict area.
At devonshire green, I have to be careful of the soft ground on the park area as it could be a tripping hazard, sensible footwear has to be chosen. I also have to be careful of bikers on the skatepark, being aware of my surroundings is important.
At soundhouse I have to be careful of traffic when shooting from across the road as there is a nearby bus stop, so I have to be wary of that danger.

Permissions and Props

The building I was shooting was Ventana House, I chose this because it is a very creative building that plays host to a digital company. If I was exhibiting these photographs in public I would have to ask permission to the owner to use the  photograph/image. If they did not agree then I would have to choose a different building.

I used no props in my shots as I prefer my locations to have a natural state as I feel they are more creative that way. This is because the images I am capturing at devonshire green have had enough human influence without any need for props, so no extra content is needed. This applies too for ventana house and Sound House

I have not included any model permissions or call sheets as I did not use any models in my shots. I would use these features in other photos however if I needed an image with human content.

KTA 2: Photography moodboards

LO2 KTA 1

KTA 1: Concept Description

For my Unit 31 project I will be taking a series of 10-15 photographs to give my perceptions of creative and digital Sheffield. For this I will take photos from the Kelham Island area of Sheffield. I will take a set of images from this area as I feel it is a very creative area of Sheffield. This is because the area plays host to many unique places that are difficult to find in most cities. I will also capture the street art in this area which occurs in many places across not only the skatepark etc. but along the abandoned warehouses in the area. My aim for the project is to show people the unique area of Sheffield that is Kelham island. This is because it does not get enough publicity and praise that it deserves from the city. Also this area of the city is not visited enough because of the bad reputation it has for being full of smashed glass and disused warehouses. Although much of the area is still industry focussed, there are a few areas that play host to unique recreation.  My target audience for the project will be younger people between 16-30 to show them an area of Sheffield they may not have explored.
